Security of Data
At ProVault we take data protection seriously, as a member of several security organisations and open to audit scrutiny, we have put in place advanced security measures for the safekeeping and transfer of your critical data.
Unlike many other backup companies, BackupIT stores data within Australia, and conforms to all Australian Government regulations in the safe storage and privacy of data for our clients.
Data Centre Secured
The ProVault servers are hosted within world class data centres, with 24/7 onsite monitoring, advanced security technology, backup generators and redundant connections to the internet. The facilities are custom designed with raised floors and HVAC temperature control systems with separate cooling zones and seismically braced racks.
Our data centres offer the widest range of physical security features, including state of the art smoke detection and fire suppression systems, motion sensors, as well as video camera surveillance and security breach alarms.
All client backup files are zipped, and then encrypted using the clients unique encryption key prior to sending to ProVault servers.
The encryption key used to encrypt your files is only known to authorised personnel within your organisation. It is never transmitted anywhere across the network, even system administrators at ProVault will not be able to decrypt and view the content of files stored on the server.
Authentication parameters & encrypted files are further encrypted within a Secure SSL Channel
For added security all communication between ProVault servers and the client computer is transported using the same procedure as internet banking and credit card transactions
Restrict Access for file restoration
ProVault can restrict access to client’s backup files from a set of defined IP addresses. If an unauthorised attempt to access data within an organisation occurs, from an IP address not listed, their access will be denied. This additional security ensures backup files are not open to all locations, even if the username and password are known.
